Efficacy of intravenous dexamethasone for post-operative pain relief in elective cesarean section

Background: Various additives have been evaluated for the purpose of enhancing quality analgesia and prolonging duration spinal anesthesia. Aims Objectives: This randomized study was conducted to evaluate efficacy intravenous dexamethasone in Materials Methods: A total 100 patients scheduled lower segment cesarean section under anesthesia were randomly allocated into two groups, Group-1 Group-2, including 50 each. All received injection bupivacaine 0.5% heavy 10 mg 8 intravenously, Group-2 normal saline 2 cc immediately after Duration sensory motor block, post-operative analgesia, visual analog pain scale (VAS) score, time rescue analgesic requirement first 24 h, intra- hemodynamics, side effects if any recorded. Results: The mean block (min) 162.50 106.17, respectively. Time 8.67 h 4.40 Group-2.
